Admin, Marketing and Fundraising Assistant - Hope Housing

Job Description:
Established in 2008, Hope Housing is a registered Christian charity working with people experiencing homelessness in Bradford. Our aim is to end rough sleeping in Bradford by eradicating homelessness through the provision of a range of services including crisis management, advice and advocacy and supported housing. We believe it is a great privilege to help people experiencing homelessness by providing hope where they often feel there is no hope. We are extremely well respected across the Bradford District and have an excellent track-record of effective delivery and partnership working.

The purpose of the post is to provide marketing and administrative support to enable the smooth running of the office and various projects.  As a member of the team you will contribute to fulfilling Hope Housing's vision for the eradication of homelessness in Bradford.  They will also be part of the fundraising team, increasing the income to the charity by  delivering fundraising events and increasing community participation. 

The main duties and responsibilities of the role include answering, directing and making phone calls - handling inquiries and incoming work requests, taking and distributing messages, taking phone referrals from rough sleepers and other referral agencies. They will be required to update Hope Housing’s social media accounts, website and write applications to online micro grants. The assistant will be required to support the team to produce our newsletter and marketing materials.

Further responsibilities include organising, scheduling and coordinating appointments and meetings, reviewing  files and records to answer requests for information as well as checking and distributing documents and correspondence, receiving, sorting and distributing incoming mail and emails and preparing and sending outgoing mailings and packages. The Admin, Marketing and Fundraising Assistant will be expected to organise and deliver fundraising events and look to increase regular giving and develop supporter relations. They will maintain relevant filing systems and keep records up to date as well as photocopying, scanning, typing documents and correspondence, and creating, updating and maintaining relevant databases.

The successful candidate will be required to undertake any training and development opportunities as agreed, attend occasional conferences and events related to homelessness and the work of Hope Housing.

The successful candidate will be expected to work within the framework of values, ethos, policies and procedures set by the trustees and to carry out any additional tasks as required.

Essential and desirable skills:

  • It is essential that the candidate is qualified to A Level standard (English and Maths A-C GCSE) and have excellent English language skills, both written and verbal.
  • The applicant must be computer literate with an ability to use Excel, Word, email and social media and be able to maintain and update accurate records.
  • The candidate must be confident making and answering phone calls and have an ability to liaise, work with and network effectively with a range of external agencies.
  • They should have an ability to organise and prioritise their own time/ workload and to be self motivated with an ability to act on their own initiative and as part of a team.
  • They are to be committed to equality and diversity as well as the aims of Hope Housing. They should have a flexible approach to work.

Training provided:
The candidate will be given experience of working in a busy office housing the homeless.  They will be line managed by the Admin and Finance worker and will gain experience in the supported housing sector.  They will also gain experience in the running of a busy charity and develop excellent communication skills both written and verbally. They will also develop skills in marketing and of running fundraising events.  They will develop IT skills and gain valuable experience of working for a charity as well as develop their time management skills and learn to prioritise workloads.
