Learning Support Assistant - Glenaire Primary School
The role will involve working as a member under the direction of class teachers to provide support, primarily in reading, to pupils in their class. The employee will gain experience of working with pupils across the primary age-range, primarily within key stage two classes. This will include reading with children and supporting them in phonics catch-up and also working with pupils who have special educational needs, supporting them in general learning programmes or interventions.
The role will also involve general classroom assistant duties, such as assisting in the preparation of resources, managing equipment, supporting with classroom routines. There will also be a responsibility for lunchtime supervision in the playground, supervising and engaging children in play activities.
The employee will have the opportunity to develop the skills of a teaching assistant, which would enable them to go on to further work in a school or nursery setting or to further education and qualification in the role.

Essential and desirable skills:
Intermediate level of fluency in English is essential, as is functional level of reading, writing and numeracy. GCSE English and Maths are preferable. Experience of working with children previously would be an asset. Ability to maintain a calm and positive demeanor at all times is essential.
Training provided in-house in all tasks required. Support from senior leadership team with writing applications and CVs. Careers guidance for future training and placement if required.
