Premises Assistant - Glenaire Primary School
The role will involve working as a member of the premises staff under the direction of the school site manager. The employee will develop premises maintenance skills for the interior and exterior of the school site, including grounds which include a garden and woodland.
The role will involve general tidying and smartening of the school site, managing refuse and cleaning tasks to support the school environment. There will be basic maintenance tasks such as moving and erecting furniture, painting small areas, outside weeding and sweeping.
The role will also involve supporting health and safety practices of the school, with regard to fire safety procedures, hygiene management and general health and safety awareness and measures. Depending on aptitude, the role may involve further elements of premises management, such as site security (locking up), basic plumbing and remedial work.
The employee will have the opportunity to develop practical caretaking skills at a beginner level and also grounds maintenance experience which could be applied to other settings. Training will be given in all elements of the role and online training courses will be available in a range of areas linked to the role.

Essential and desirable skills:
Intermediate level of fluency in English is essential, as is functional level of reading and writing. Experience of working with others as part of a team would be useful. Practical skills or experience in cleaning, DIY or garden maintenance would be an asset.
Training provided in-house in all tasks required. Support from senior leadership team with writing applications and CVs. Careers guidance for future training or qualifications if relevant.
