Youth Support - JAMES
Support for our youth workers, who provide a range of programmes for young people including; sport, craft, life skills and issue based sessions.
Placements will be based at the JAMES Tramshed in Keighley, yet sessions will be delivered across the Keighley area including outreach within our communities. Each will work closely with the existing staff team and support their delivery.
The roles will be to assist the staff who support young people, but also to develop their own youth work skills; enabling young people to overcome barriers and meet their full potential. Operating within the JAMES safeguarding guidelines is critical, where further training will be given on induction.
Delivery will take place with a variety of cohorts, from small groups of targeted young people to large open evening sessions. The role will also require support of young people with issue based content such as; healthy relationships, substance misuse and ASB. The role will have to support young people with a range of needs including; challenging behaviour, disengaged or distrustful of services and involved in the criminal justice system. It will also require close working with the wider JAMES staff team, other professionals and potentially members of the public.
The role will be expected undertake certain administrative tasks such as checking their work email and completing any training necessary. Reports and other session records will need to be completed.
Skills gained at JAMES include; youth work, communication and language with young people and professionals, appropriate behaviour within the workplace, IT and computer skills, working as part of a team and independently, health and safety in the workplace and safeguarding.
Tools and equipment; the role will have use of the equipment within the JAMES such as sport and outdoor equipment. Some may require additional training. Additional PPE and equipment will be provided where required.

- Accepting applicants with qualifications from Level 2 or above.
JAMES will offer, role mentors, further training, health and safety, safeguarding. We will respond to individual training needs.
