Youth Support Worker Trainee - Bradford Youth Development Partnership

-To assist other project team members in the development of relationships with young people, aged 8–20, in order to address their Isolation, loneliness and personal development needs.
-To support work with Primary and Secondary schools on the delivery of a range of BYDP led projects.
-To work directly with young people and engage them in positive activities.
-To promote BYDP services to stakeholders, including young people and partner organisations.
-To work with other BYDP staff to deliver holiday activities to children & young people.
-Assist other BYDP staff in the setting up, development and promotion of  youth volunteering opportunities.
-Assisting other staff in initiating, developing and maintaining relationships with young people in the 8 – 20 age range.
-Assisting in supporting young people to design, develop and deliver activities, projects and events underpinned by the 6 principles of Youth Social Action (Reflective, Challenging, Youth Led, Socially Impactful, Progressive and Embedded).
-Ensuring young people are involved in the development of BYDP projects and empowered to have more control over the things that matter to them.
-Enabling young people to learn, achieve, record and accredit their learning outcomes through good quality youth work.
-Assisting in maintaining adequate management information systems to enable effective planning & reporting.
-Encouraging and support young people to have a voice, and influence decision making within BYDP and the local community.
-Assisting in planning, monitoring and evaluating the youth work in the team.
-Assisting in carrying out regular analysis of needs and promote youth work opportunities throughout the local community.
-Assisting in supporting young people to work effectively in groups.
-Working as part of a team to deliver a number of projects within BYDP.
-Ensuring the relevant health & safety procedures are implemented and monitored.
-Promoting equality of opportunity and voluntary participation and actively challenge discrimination, prejudice and oppressive behaviour.
-Complying with such policies, procedures, guidelines and codes of practice as laid down by BYDP.
-Assisting in creating links and partnerships with existing services and agencies in the identified areas, creating best practice delivery.
-Working evenings, weekends and holiday periods as required
-Working across BYDP projects to enhance delivery of work with young people.
-Undertaking any other duties as mutually agreed with Project Managemen

Weekly Wage
: National Minimum Wage
Employer Name & Location: Bradford Youth Development Partnership, 52 Cornwall Road, Manningham, Bradford, BD8 7JN.
Working week - contracted hours / full time / part time: 25 Hours,
Mon-Thursday, flexible afternoon/early evening and occasional weekends and    school holidays.
Number of vacancies & closing date for applications: 1 vacancy, Closing Date is 19th of November.
Duration – Perm / temp: 6 Months
Essential and desirable skills:
-Experience of engaging young people in informal and formal learning experiences.
-Experience of working with young people, aged 8 –20 years in a paid or voluntary capacity.
-Able to plan, organise and review own work.
-Able to reflect on own performance and work as an effective team worker.
-Able to judge and manage confidential matters.
-Able to collate information and maintain records.
-Able to communicate clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing.
Training provided: We will provide a range of on the job experience and identify any training needs at the beginning of the placement, source and deliver these over the placement period.
