SkillsHouse is a Partnership, including educational organisations, voluntary services providers, and employers, that helps connect out-of-work residents to jobs and training.

What we offer:

Bridge SkillsHouse workers provide free, impartial information, advice and guidance helping Bradford residents into employment and training. Support includes:

  • Job search support and access to employment and apprenticeship opportunities.
  • Access to free training to improve skills and employability.
  • CVs and application support.
  • Interview preparation.
  • Access to pre and in work support services.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • To engage, build trust and maintain effective rapport with participants in and through their pathway to work and sustained work.
  • To conduct community outreach and engagement work and activity to engage participants. To promote and work as part multi-agency localities team to ensure the effective delivery of employability, training and specialist support to participants.
  • To conduct in-depth initial diagnostic assessments with all participants to identify and determine individual employability, training and specialist support needs and barriers.
  • To co-create an individual work plans, informed by the individual diagnostic, to include range of employability, training, and specialist support and activities/programmes.
  • To design, manage and deliver a range of employability/training modules or interventions to maximise participant engagement, retention and progression.
  • To design, manage and facilitate a range of personal development, life and essential skills training activities via 1:1 sessions, short courses and workshops.
  • To adopt a holistic approach to supporting participants identifying barriers that may impact on participants’ progression towards work.
  • To achieve key performance indicator targets including: quality assurance, equal opportunities and diversity, participant engagement, retention, training and qualification achievement, participant feedback, progression, and positive outcomes.
  • To co-ordinate wraparound specialist and employment support and make managed referrals to partner organisations support.
  • To work in partnership through the SkillsHouse network to ensure participants get timely and appropriate support.
  • To develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of local labour markets including extensive knowledge of current benefits regimes and entitlements.
  • To proactively motivate and support participants and work collaboratively with employment engagement team and partners.
  • To effectively prepare and complete all participant administration and financial documentation, ensuring all records are accurate and kept up-to-date. To fully comply with health and safety, equal opportunities and diversity, quality assurance, safeguarding and data protection.

£21,748

Essential Skills/Qualifications:

  • Experience of a range of IT packages relating to area of work
  • Ability to adopt a process of continual improvement and suggest ways of working more efficient and effectively to improve service delivery
  • Experience of interpreting, handling and communicating information
  • Capacity to manage a workload and carry out a number of specific tasks accurately and to a high standard
  • Ability to communicate with an effective range of spoken and written communication skills required as a regular feature of the job. Including exchanging information/building relationships; giving advice and guidance; counselling, negotiating and persuading and handling private, confidential and sensitive information
  • Structured Problem Solving Activity having a range of analytical skills required for gathering, collating and analysing the facts needed to solve problems, including creative and critical thinking; developing practical solutions; applying problem solving strategies and managing interpersonal relationships
  • Committed to work with dignity and respect promoting equality, treating all people fairly, maintaining impartiality/fairness with all people, being aware of the barriers people face

Desirable Skills/Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 GCSE’s (grade C or above) or equivalent including English Language
  • Level 4 Diploma in Advice and Guidance or the Level 4 Diploma in Career Information and Advice
  • Experience in an employment/training/recruitment function
  • Knowledge of how to help adapt and deliver guidance, mentoring and support to meet individual needs
  • Experience of working with unemployed people and supervision of small groups, offering advice and guidance services
  • Experience of community engagement and meeting  personal needs
  • Knowledge of Health, Safety and Environmental policies, procedures and regulations including risks in own area of work
