Course Description:

Students will gain an understanding of the record keeping process for medication, legislation and the audit process related to medication and issues of responsibility and accountability.  Students will also gain a thorough understanding of procedures for obtaining, storing, administering and disposing of medication. Students must be working in the Health Care Sector to complete this course. This course is paper-based. It wil contain two assessments and four units will be covered which will be:

  • Understand medication and prescriptions
  • Supply, storage and disposal of medication
  • Understand the requirements for the safe administration of medication
  • Record-keeping and audit processes for medication
