Another Successful SkillsHouse Jobs and Training Fair!
The careers event, held in the Banqueting Hall of Bradford City Hall, attracted over 250 job seekers who were keen to talk to the 25 local employers and training providers in attendance about the opportunities available to them.
Employers included the National Science and Media Museum, Bradford 2025, the British Heart Foundation, Royal Airforce, Royal Navy Submarines, West Yorkshire Police and West Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service.
Training providers included the Council’s in-house training provider Skills for Work as well as Keighley and Shipley Colleges.
Earlier in the morning, employers were offered a thought-provoking introduction to the world of supported employment - highlighting how inclusive employers can benefit from the highly employable talent pool of neurodivergent individuals.
Over 30 supported interns were then invited to present their individual portfolios to the employers in attendance, who welcomed the opportunity to network with the talented group of individuals who were proactively seeking work experience placements. Thanks to Roxanne Coleman from Coleman Training for delivering the session.
The event turned out to be a successful day for all involved, with a number of jobseekers expressing interest in opportunities available and completing applications on the spot.
SkillsHouse Bradford is the Council’s all-age careers service, offering employment and training support and advice to all residents in the District.
