Bradford’s young talent celebrated at SkillsHouse Careers and Technical Education Awards
The achievements of young people, educators and employers across the district have been celebrated at the SkillsHouse Careers and Technical Education (CTE) Awards 2026.
The annual event brought together schools, colleges and businesses to celebrate success in careers and technical education. This year there were 122 finalists across 22 categories, supported by 20 employer sponsors.
The awards show how careers and technical education helps young people build the skills, knowledge and experience they need for further study, training and work.
They also celebrate young people’s talents and recognise the work of teachers, employers and partners who help create clear routes into jobs and careers.
Winners included students from Bradford College, Keighley College, Shipley College, Immanuel College, Oastlers School, Carlton Bolling School, Ilkley Grammar School and several primary schools across the district.
The awards also recognised young people who have shown strong skills in leadership, creativity, problem solving, teamwork and sustainability. Lady Royd Primary School and Beechcliffe School were named Sustainability Champions.
The event also celebrated the work of educators and businesses supporting young people. Shohab Ali of Laisterdyke Leadership Academy and Caroline McGreavy of Keighley College were recognised in the Educator of the Year category, while Robertson’s received the Outstanding Business Award.
Special recognition awards were presented to Zoe Mawson, Headteacher at Beckfoot Heaton Primary School, and Jon Hemingway of Abrahams & Carlisle Ltd for their long-standing support of SkillsHouse Careers and Technical Education.
Cllr Andrew Judson, Bradford Council’s portfolio holder for Economy, Regeneration and Planning, said: “It’s great to see our children and young people developing vital skills for their future, supported by dedicated teachers and strong partnerships with local employers.
These awards are a real celebration of the talent, potential and ambition of young people across our district.”
Andrew Laver, Chair of the SkillsHouse Partnership Board, said: “The most powerful investment we can make is in people and their potential and it takes all of us, businesses, educators, and students, to turn that potential into real opportunity."
