Winners announced for the SkillsHouse Careers and Technical Education Awards 2025
Around 300 people attended this year’s awards to celebrate young people and those who support them from across Bradford District.
Taking place on Monday 7th July in the University of Bradford’s Great Hall, the awards were also a great opportunity to thank educators and local organisations for their invaluable work in supporting young people develop the skills they need for a future in the workplace.
SkillsHouse CTE were delighted that Matt Zina hosted the event. Matt is the founder of a specialist acting coaching agency and has worked in the industry for over 20 years, beginning his career as an actor himself. Proceedings began with Matt introducing Susan Hinchcliffe, Leader of Bradford Council, to formally open the event.
This year has seen CTE work with more people than ever: over 19,000 students, 140 schools and colleges, almost 900 businesses and issued over 3,700 digital badges! To be able to gather just a small selection of these people together to celebrate everyone’s achievements made a special day, and we thank everyone who attended.
Entertainment was provided by local young people, with guests being treated to a performance from Femi & MP from AllStars.
Also on the agenda were inspirational speeches from Amin Hussain, an ex Carlton Bolling student, and Devanshu Kumar, who spoke about the challenges he had overcome to successfully start a career at Prospect Change.
Andrew Laver, Chair of the District Board, said:
“Today we gather to celebrate the achievements of children and young people.
We are also celebrating the impact of our careers and technical education partnership and how it is shaping the future of our workforce. It is through our collective efforts that we are able to create ‘routes to success’ for our children and young people and meet the evolving needs of our businesses and communities.
Today's annual celebration highlights the extraordinary commitment from our educators; schools, colleges, and the University of Bradford. We celebrate local employers, some of whom are here today and some who are esteemed chairs of our 9 CTE sector boards alongside our wider partners, WYCA and Chambers of Commerce.
Let us continue to strengthen our partnership and champion the purpose of careers and technical education and inspire children and young people to dream big achieve more and together we can build a brighter future for everyone”.
