The Local Offer is a new way of giving children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) 0-25 and their parents or carers information about what activities, services and support is available across education, health and social care (Inc. voluntary sector)  in the area where you live.

Bradford Local Offer

Into Employment

The Into Employment programme, offered by Bradford Council and SORM (School of Rock and Media), is for young adults aged 16-25 who have a disability and need support on their journey to employment.

The programme provides:

  • The opportunity to gain a level 1 qualification in employability skills delivered at SORM through their education modules around personal development
  • Placement opportunities in various job industries that match people’s skills and interests
  • Access to further training courses
  • Support from a friendly team

To apply for the scheme, you must:

  • Be aged 16 to 25
  • Have an EHCP
  • Have a disability
  • Be a Bradford Resident
  • Have Care Eligible needs

Supported Employment. Employment Matters

Bradford Council in partnership with United Response is a local supported employment scheme for Bradford residents who are Autistic or have a Learning Disability and need support into employment.

The support we offer:

  • Over 12 months support from a United Response job coach
  • Helping people to find paid employment in a role that matches their skills and interests
  • Training to build basic skills that employers value
  • Travel training
  • Job searching tips and support making applications
  • Support to write a CV and help to prepare for interviews
  • Job coaching and support at work to help learn the role
  • Opportunities to meet local employers that offer work experience, taster shifts or working interviews

We work in partnership with local employers to reduce barriers,  and support them to be a more inclusive and diverse business. Working together with partner organisations to make Bradford District a more neurodiverse friendly place where everyone can thrive in their communities.

To apply for Employment Matters, you need to be:

  • Autistic or have a learning disability
  • Aged 18+
  • A Bradford Resident
  • Not currently in paid employment
  • Not on any other employment scheme
  • Not in full time education
