L3 Diploma in Railway Engineering Technology Leeds - Shipley College

Course Description:
This course is available to anyone aged  19+ (no upper age limit).
You will gain knowledge of rail engineering technologies and track maintenance processes through a mix of classroom sessions and practical work experience on real track lines. Some of the key topics covered are Railway infrastructure, Track Engineering, Signalling Systems and Overhead Line Equipment. After you have finished this 21 week course, you will then complete a 2 weeks Personal Track Safety (PTS) course which is funded by the College. This qualification is essential for everyone who wishes to work on or near any line on Network Rail’s infrastructure.

Date and Duration:
16th May 2022 - 21st November 2022, 9am-4pm.
You will attend the course every Monday for 21 weeks, the course will be delivered online with some practical sessions held in Leeds. After completing the 21 weeks, there will be a short break and then a full 2 weeks where you will complete the Personal Track Safety Qualification, Small Tools and OLEC1 training.

Required qualification and educational requirements for attendance:
You will need a grade D or above in English and Maths. However, the College provides an initial assessment to determine your level. You will also need access to a laptop to complete the assessments.
